Dr John drake
John joined the faculty of SUNY-ESF as an Assistant Professor in 2017.
John is excited about how trees work, and how trees contribute to the production of natural resources such as wood production and C storage. John studied the forest production ecology of loblolly pines for his PhD in Evan DeLucia's lab at the University of Illinois. He then studied root-soil interactions and soil N cycling with Adrien Finzi at Boston University, where he focused on forests in Massachusetts. John then spent five years as a Research Fellow in Australia, where he studied Eucalyptus responses to climate warming, drought, and heatwaves. When John is away from work, he enjoys hiking, camping, rock climbing, woodworking, cycling, and spending time with his wife, daughter, and dog. |
