Dushan is a plant ecophysiologist and modeler. He finished his PhD at the Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment, in Australia. He is primarily affiliated with Dr. Belinda Medlyn's group, and he is co-advised by Dr. Drake.
Dushan is also a Research Scientist at the Plant Physiology Division of the Coconut Research Institute of Sri Lanka.
Dushan is particularly interested in the effects of climate warming on photosynthesis, growth, and allocation in trees. He uses a combination of empirical measurements and mathematical models to address these important issues.
