Garrett is a M.S. student working with the American Chestnut Research at Restoration Project at SUNY ESF. His project focuses on studying the growth and photosynthetic responses of transgenic American chestnuts under varying silvicultural treatments. He received his B.S. in Forest Ecosystem Management from The Pennsylvania State University, where his undergraduate research focused on evaluating local adaptation to climate in populations of red maple. His professional interests include sustainable resource management, ecosystem rehabilitation, and climate change mitigation.
