Arianna joined the Drake lab in January of 2019 as masters student focusing on the effects of calcium deficiency and climate warming on sugar maple decline in the Northeast.
Arianna is interested in forest ecosystems as a whole and specifically the interactions between soil nutrients, tree health, and a trees ability to acclimate to environmental stress. Arianna received a bachelors of science in natural resource conservation and wildlife conservation from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in December of 2017. During her undergraduate career she volunteered for two summers as a field technician for a graduate student doing research on wood thrush (Hylocichla mustelina). She also worked as a field technician for the U.S. Geological Survey's Amphibian Research and Monitoring Initiative for two summers working primarily with salamanders. When not working Arianna enjoys kayaking, fly fishing, baking, and spending time with her dog and horse. |
